Formulate a statement about how truth is ensured in all of your marketing communications. Define specific steps you will take to ensure honesty and transparency in your messaging. Consider including examples of unacceptable practices to make your point.

Transparency

Transparency is key to building trust in your community. Determine how you communicate about your products, services, and marketing strategies. For example, about disclosing sponsored content, affiliates, or potential conflicts of interest.

Compliance with the law

Ensure that your marketing efforts comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Commit to ethical conduct and promise to comply with legal standards in the areas of advertising, data protection and consumer rights.

Respect for Privacy

Describe your commitment to protecting consumer privacy and data security. Define protocols for handling personal information responsibly and obtaining consent for data collection and use.

Social responsibility

Where does the social responsibility lie for your organization? Make a statement about the specific impact that your organization envisions (impact statement.) If you have already formulated this in module 6, you can apply this impact statement directly.

Diversity

Emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusion in your marketing campaigns. Commit to representing diverse perspectives and avoiding stereotypes in your messaging and images.

- If your target audience includes children, describe special considerations for communicating with this audience. - How do you ensure that this document is properly adhered to within your current team? - Provide channels for employees to report ethical concerns or violations anonymously.

Accountability

Hold yourself and your team accountable for upholding the principles you have formulated in your ethical marketing policy. For example, set consequences for any violations.
